The chatter surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus hasn’t slowed down as we hit the end of another day in Italy.
In fact, it looks like there’s about to be direct discussion between Juventus’ front office and the man who represents Ronaldo’s best interest, agent Jorge Mendes.
According to Goal Italia’s Romeo Agresti, Nicolo Schira and others in the Italian press, Mendes has made the trip to Italy for emergency talks with the Juve front office as rumors surrounding Ronaldo’s future at the club continue to run wild. Schira has since reported that Manchester City, the club that Ronaldo has been linked to the most over the last 48 or 72 hours, have offered Ronaldo a contract through 2023. Sky Sport Italia reports that Man City’s contract offer is worth €15 million net a season.
Juventus reportedly want around €30 million for Ronaldo so that the club doesn’t take a loss on the books. Schira has also reported that Juventus could accept Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus as a possible swap deal candidate if Ronaldo does end up leaving.
It’s getting real real, isn’t it?
You gotta think that if things were OK and that if this was simply media speculation then Mendes wouldn’t be flying in and having discussions about Ronaldo’s future with Juventus.
But, as is now being widely reported, Mendes is in Turin and he’s ready to talk with Juventus’ highest-ranking officials. And knowing just how firm Juventus’ management — whether it’s Pavel Nedved or Max Allegri — has been in their stance regarding Ronaldo’s future at the club, there has to be something up if they are taking things to this level with all of a week left in the summer transfer window.
