Juventus’ Italy contingent has taken their stay at Euro 2020 to the limit. Not that it’s a bad thing at all because the reason is very much an obvious one: Italy’s Juve quartet and the rest of the Azzurri are in the grand finale. And it just so happens that when Italy take the field at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night, they will be doing so as the clear-cut visiting team even though this is very much a “neutral” ground in the official program.
But when you play England at Wembley, it definitely ain’t gonna be neutral.
It will be an Italy-England showdown in the Euro 2020 final this weekend. Because of that, you can probably guess where the conversation started on this week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast. (Like! Subscribe! Rate! Review! We’ll love you forever.)
The thing is, though, with the month of July arriving and this being a summer where Juventus and the rest of European football not trying to cram in the remaining two months of a league season, there’s regular summer activities happening. And for Juventus, that means new people to introduce — most notably a new transfer director as well as the guy who will essentially be running the show on the financial side of things.
So, as much as we talk about Euro 2020 from the start, there’s plenty of Juventus talk, folks.
It’s almost that time again when we’re reading way too much into who’s at preseason training and what Max Allegri might be doing in terms of formations and tactics. (And just who he might be screaming at the most because a Max Allegri training session ain’t complete without at least a few dudes getting yelled at.)
On this week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks, we discuss:
- Thoughts on Italy’s run to the Euro 2020 final.
- Italy’s midfield vs. what England could do against the Azzurri on Sunday
- Federico Cherubini and Maurizio Arrivabene are now officially in their new jobs.
- Just how much Cherubini’s task this summer hinges on Cristiano Ronaldo’s status at the club, one that the new Juventus chief football officer sounded rather confident in.
- Twitter questions!
- And, on our way out the door, Italy-England predictions.
