You might think this is just a day that is to pay attention to the Euros. But, in actuality, this is a day at the Euros that could very well have a back impact on Juventus as well.
The defending European champions are taking the field today, the second day of the Euro 2020 Round of 16. The defending European champions’ best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, is a Juventus player who has been rumored to be staying or going, going or staying and something in between for weeks now. And it is the decision about his future that has always been anticipated to come after the Euros, whenever Portugal is to see its tournament run end.
So, as Portugal could potentially be eliminated a few hours after this post going live, we could be just that much closer to see Juventus’ summer transfer coming into some kind of focus, even though the big domino who wears No. 7 still needs to fall in either direction before Max Allegri will truly know what his roster will look like.
But Portugal isn’t going to be the first team playing today. And Ronaldo won’t be the first Juventus player taking the field today. Here’s the schedule:
- Matthijs de Ligt and the Netherlands vs. the Czech Republic
- Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal vs. Belgium
Well, that certainly seems like a good set of games, doesn’t it?
Let’s have some fun.
And then find out who Italy is going to be lining up against in the Euro 2020 quarterfinals next week. Good times, good times.
Netherlands vs. Czech Republic
