Higher you go, greater the fall

I could be completely wrong but I can see a lot of similarities between this team and Juventus from 2010. If I am correct, this means two things, the first Sarri was the worst thing to happen to this club and second, we might be looking at second revival of the club. Since this team is still miles ahead of 2010, if the revival is done effectively we could be looking at good times ahead.

Now I get it into how this team is similar to 2010 Juventus, so the faint of heart should stop reading. This first thought first came into my mind after (for some sick reason) youtube recommended me highlights of Juventus vs Bari 3-1. 3-1 loss to Bari, this would sound like a distant memory to most of us a year ago, but how does 3-0 to Fiorentina or 1-1 to Crotone sound. Anyway, I clicked on the suggested video because I am a sadist and need therapy, we need to delve into why, I clicked, but I did. And what did I see, I saw our current team in that 10 year old video.

You had an old but lethal and all time great attacker leading the line. David Trezeguet, but this version of Trezeguet is slow, you can still see from his every touch that he is a class player but there is something off. Do you know where I am going with this? Yes that is Ronaldo. What else did I see? I saw a clearly talented young player who probably has his best years ahead of him. He is quick, can dribble past anyone, he is going to be the heir to Del Piero for sure, who is this player, Paulo Ribas? No wait Diego Ribas, or as current day fans refer to him as, Paolo Dybala. It does not end there. The sick person that I am, I saw more highlights, How does Juventus 0 - 2 Palermo sound?

Lets see what we have here, oh look at that beautiful midfield, Sissoko, Melo and Candreva, just beautiful. Well of course Melo and Mckennie are not entirely similar (none of these players are), but you can see how similar the situation was. At the back we had Chiellini and Cannavaro, or as I like to call them De Ligt and Bonucci.

We had good players, we had legends like Del Piero, Trezeguet and Cannavaro, we had talented players like Diego, Candreva and Melo. But we did not have a team or an actual set up. We had Ferrera as the coach to start off the campaign who much like Pirlo barely had any experience. Ronaldo, Chiesa, De Ligt and Bentancur are not bad players, neither was Diego or Trezeguet. We are incredibly mis-managed right now.

The only reason we did not fail so miserably was because Ronaldo is in a different world compared to Trezeguet and most of our players are of better quality but the lack of cohesiveness and lack of players in their prime is just the same. We either have players who have done it all or players that have to do it all. No one in that squad or this squad is in their prime.

But we might have good times ahead, if we can resolve the coaching issue. Either Pirlo learns how to drill the complacency out of this team and does basic things a coach should do, or we bring back Allegri or someone that knows what they are doing. Because Mckennie is no Melo and Dybala is no Diego, the quality in the team is there, we need slight adjustments. An overhaul will kill us, a new coach who is not a proven winner will kill us.

Anyway here is my list of how 2010=2020

Trezeguet = Ronaldo
De Ceglie = Bernardeschi
Marchisio = Bentancur (I hope)
Chiellini = De Ligt
Cannavaro = Bonucci
Grosso = Sandro
Melo = Mckennie
Tiago = Rabiot
Poulsen = Arthur
Diego = Dybala
Camoranesi = Cuadrado
Salihamidzic = Danilo
Pinsoglio = Pinsoglio

The main thing is basically we do not have a coach, that's it
