The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, Episode 40: So, What Now?

It’s been a week since Juventus was eliminated from the Champions League by Porto, and that’s probably a good thing since we were VERY ANGRY when it all first went down.

So, some things have happened since our last podcast episode.

I feel safe in saying that most of it is not something will make you smile. Well, unless you consider Chuks busting out his British accent something that would make you smile — which you should definitely say because he’s a wonderful bloke.

But when it comes to Juventus and the Champions League Round of 16 this season, it is something that hasn’t made you smile just like a year ago, a lot like the quarterfinals two years ago, and so it goes. There is nothing happy about seeing Juventus fail to advance past the first knockout round ... unless you utterly enjoy those things happening to this club. That is just the nature of the beast — both for us and everybody else.

This week’s podcast episode, one where we were unfortunately Sergio-less, is all about Juventus’ Champions League elimination at the hands of Porto last Tuesday night. We’ve had a week to think about it — which was a good idea since we were BIG MAD in the hours and days following what went down in Turin seven days ago.

Sorry, but there’s very little Cagliari talk. I know you all were eagerly awaiting that.

On this week’s episode, you can probably guess what we’re going to talk about, but we’re going to go ahead and tell you anyways ...

  • Juventus is a team that has left us disappointed.
  • Juventus is a team that needs a lot of work.
  • Juventus is a team that is paying one of the best players in the history of the game A LOT of money and it is very much possible that said money could be better allocated to other areas.
  • An honest discussion about Cristiano Ronaldo and his future at Juventus.
  • Chuks flexes his economics background — again.
  • More discussion about Ronaldo and his future at Juventus.
  • A question: What is there to look forward to for the rest of the 2020-21 season?
  • More questions, but these via Twitter.
