The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, Episode 37: Needing a Lifeline

Juventus followed up making the Coppa Italia final with a pair of disappointing showings against Napoli and Porto. This team, this stupid team.

With the truncated schedule being what it is, a lot can happen between podcast episodes.

And, boy, was that the case between Episodes 36 and 37 of this here Juventus podcast.

The most recent game, one where Juventus would be in quite the pickle if not for a late Federico Chiesa right-footed thing of beauty, was far from what Juventus needed to do if they wanted to leave their trip to Portugal feeling good about things in the Champions League Round of 16. Instead, Juve headed home down 2-1 on aggregate thanks to a pair of goals allowed in the opening minute of each half and, again, have a hill to climb if they want to make the Champions League quarterfinals.

So, take a guess where we started things this week.

Yep, just one of those weeks.

Ugh.

On this week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks, we discuss:

  • What the heck happened for Juventus against Porto.
  • The struggles of Rodrigo Bentancur.
  • Remember when Juventus advanced to the Coppa Italia final ... a week and a half ago? It seems like so long ago, but it really wasn’t, we swear!
  • Our rapid fire Twitter question segment because the folks on the Twitter machine brought it this week and gave us lots to talk about.
