The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, Episode 67: Allegrimania Runs Wild

Juventus entered its matchup with Chelsea as the underdog. They not only one, but they turned in a classic Max Allegri performance and went into the international break with plenty of momentum.

Ah, at long last, a podcast where we’re legitimately in a good mood.

Like, seriously. A GOOD MOOD.

Not a bit of being grumpy. Not a bit of being angry or frustrated with Juventus. (Or, I guess, as not-frustrated as one can be when it comes to this club in the year 2021.)

Juventus not only has a winning streak, but Max Allegri’s squad has also gotten themselves a signature win to finally boast about midweek against Chelsea. It was a good very — a very good week for both Allegri and his team as a whole, at least temporarily answering some questions about just the direction in which they are heading. The current trio of podcasters on this blog (minus the new dad of the group once again) were more than happy to talk about some good Juventus things that happened over the last couple of games after what has gone on over the first six weeks of the season.

Juve’s maybe not BACK BACK, but things are slowly trending upward.

And that’s good. And very much a welcome sight compared to what we saw the first handful of games this season.

On this week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks, we discuss:

  • Looking back on Juve’s 1-0 win over reigning European champions Chelsea, allowing Max Allegri’s squad to take over the top spot in their Champions League group.
  • Wait, Juventus’ defense did WHAT against Chelsea?
  • Are we feeling a little bit better about this team knowing what they’ve done in the last couple of games?
  • Thoughts on Juventus’ win over Torino in the Derby della Mole.
  • A week after talking about Matthijs de Ligt, we talk about Matthijs de Ligt again — but in a much better kind of way.
  • Twitter questions, including some stuff on the aforementioned Matthijs de Ligt, Paulo Dybala, Moise Kean, Federico Bernardeschi, Adrien Rabiot and Weston McKennie.
