And for Andrea Pirlo’s opening act, he made Juventus fun to watch again.
That’s a pretty good start, right?
Seems like it!
It is easy to guess what a lot of the discussion of this week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks is centered around. Hell, it would have been regardless of what the result ended up being. But because Juventus went out and beat Sampdoria 3-0 in Pirlo’s first-ever game as a manager, we had plenty of things to say about how things went at Allianz Stadium on Sunday night.
Yes, even if our beloved Dutchman wasn’t able to make it for recording this week. (Don’t worry, everything is OK and he had a legitimate excuse. We don’t want him getting on the bad side of the misses. We might have missed Chuks, but he should be back next week.)
That means we took a page out of Pirlo’s book and went with a three-man defense, as myself (Danny), Sam and Sergio took our cups full of optimism — and, yes, we know this is one game against Sampdoria and that’s it in a very long season — and talked about what we had just seen the day before as Juventus opened the season in fine fashion. And it just so happened that as we were about to hit record, Juve had an old buddy roll back into town and ended up signing on the dotted line the very next day.
So, yeah, we had a grand old time with this one.
On this week’s episode of The Old Lady Speaks, we discuss:
- SO HOW ABOUT JUVENTUS’ SEASON-OPENING WIN, HUH? PRETTY GOOD!
- What the hell got into Aaron Ramsey? (Not that we’re complaining about how he played on Sunday night AT ALL, people.)
- Could Juventus’ midfield not be as bad as its been the last few years?
- Álvaro Morata is Juventus’ No. 9 again.
- Where could Morata fit into Pirlo’s
- And, as always, we wrap things up with some Twitter questions.
