Game Time Thread: Juventus vs. Roma

One last hurrah for the 2019-20 season.

One more game to go.

Ninety more minutes to go.

One Scudetto celebration to go ... this season.

The 2019-20 season finale against Roma this evening will look a lot like the last eight season finales for the simple fact that Juventus will, again, lift a Scudetto when the game is actually over. That is hopefully the lede of the post-game thread yours truly will craft in a few hours and there’s not some kind of majority storyline that ruins the celebratory mood and derails any kind of happy thoughts that all of us had.

Also, we get to see new jerseys. Stripes, baby. STRIPES.

(I spy Matthijs de Ligt and Martina Rosucci. You could have done a lot worse with that tweet, Juventus. Good work. More of that, please.)

We will see how much squad rotation Maurizio Sarri will go through with knowing full well the only game that’s still on Juve’s schedule that truly matters is not the one that his team is going to be playing tonight. As much as Juventus-Roma might be a fixture that usually has something riding on it like it did in their other two meetings this season, this one is the complete opposite. Juventus has nothing to play for in Serie A. Same goes for Roma after they secured a European spot last week.

So, with nothing riding on this result for either team, maybe we’ll see some good football on top of the squad rotation?

That would be nice. After what we’ve seen from Juve lately, a change for the better is most certainly welcome. I think we deserve it after everything over the past few weeks.
