Jorginho’s agent hasn’t heard from Juventus yet

So maybe swap deal season isn’t happening just yet.

Chelsea FC v Liverpool FC - FA Cup Fifth Round

Based on what the Italian press — and other outlets around Europe — are telling us, Miralem Pjanic is going to be playing his football somewhere other than at Allianz Stadium next season. Every deal being mentioned in a swap deal, and as we heard last week, one of those deals just so happens to include a former pupil of Maurizio Sarri who now plays in England.

The thing is, though, if Juve are interested in signing Jorginho, his agent hasn’t heard from Fabio Paratici or anybody else associated with the reigning champions just yet.

We know that because Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, said so:

“Juventus are one of the top teams in Europe and any player would like to play for them. I haven’t heard from [sporting director] Paratici, he hasn’t called me. Jorginho has three years left on his contract with Chelsea, he’s doing well in London. read about the links with Juve through newspapers and various outlets.”

[...]

“I repeat: Juventus are one of the top clubs in football.”

Why this matters is because Juventus and Chelsea had reportedly opened talks over a swap deal involving Pjanic and Jorginho last week. Since then, though, things have been relatively quiet on the Jorginho front, with very few rumors indicating that said talks between Juventus and Chelsea had progressed or if they were more than just checking in to gauge some kind of interest. There have been plenty of Pjanic rumors over the past seven days, but the fact that very little of it has involved Jorginho might be a little noteworthy.

Then again, who really knows what’s happening these days in the transfer cycle.
