Report: Nicolo Zaniolo wants to move to Juventus this summer

Another report of Roma’s young midfield diamond wanting to not be around a club that’s completely in flux.

When it comes to the volume of transfer rumors, Nicolo Zaniolo-to-Juventus talk hasn’t necessarily been one of the most talked about moves this summer. Not when you compare it to the volume of talk regarding any kind of moves involving Matthijs de Ligt and Paul Pogba potentially relocating to Turin.

But, if there’s anything behind what the Corriere dello Sport has as its centerpiece story in Sunday’s paper, then we might as well brace for a new wave of Zaniolo talk.

There’s Zaniolo. There’s “Juve” in the headline. And there’s the Corriere dello Sport saying that the recently-turned 20-year-old Zaniolo wants a move to Juventus as Roma reportedly evaluates the possibility of selling their latest asset for sizable profit.

Or, as the Corriere dello Sport points out, it could be a deal where Juventus Director of Football Fabio Paratici tries to include the recently-returned-from-loan Gonzalo Higuain, who has been linked with a move to Roma over the last week or so.

Juventus’ interest in Zaniolo isn’t new or some newfound thing as Fabio Paratici suddenly tries to swoop on the sudden availability of a Roma player. La Gazzetta dello Sport reported two weeks ago that Juventus had a €35 million offer for Zaniolo rejected by Roma, and the Corriere dello Sport has included in their report that Tottenham’s offer of €23 million plus central defender Toby Alderweireld was also shunned by the new Roma front office.

But, the main thing here is that as time goes on, the talk of Zaniolo’s contract extension talk with Roma not going as the club hoped will only continue to increase. And, as a result, the talk of Zaniolo potentially leaving Roma isn’t going to be slowing down at all.

And if it’s a move to Juventus that Zaniolo really wants — remember, he’s a boyhood Juve fan while growing up in Carrara — then that’s only going to add fuel to the fire over the next few weeks until some kind of resolution happens.
