Juventus’ rumored 2019-2020 home kit is ... not very good

Adidas, what you doin’, bruh?

Ask any diehard fan, complete neutral or Inter supporter what they associate with Juventus’ jersey, and one of the first things they are almost certain to say involves the fabled black and white stripes. They’ve been around for years, and are the trademark detail of Juve’s home kit regardless of the brand that is putting said kit out eery season.

Except next season.

At least that’s what we’re hearing.

Behold, courtesy of famed football kit leakers Footy Headlines, Juventus’ home kit for the 2019-2020 season.

That’s ... yeah, I dunno where to begin with this.

The obvious first part is that jumps off the page is the lack of black and white stripes. And not the mandatory three stripes on the shoulders that is consistent with every jersey that adidas makes. It’s the lack of any stripes, barring the random pink one down the center of the jersey, that pretty much means Juventus will be ditching their history for a year in the hopes of making more of a fashion statement more than anything else.

It’s something that will take just a little bit of time to get used to.

And, knowing that this is an extreme step away from tradition, who knows if we’ll ever get used to it.

There’s also one sleeve that is black, the other one is white. There’s also the massive black block on the back of the jersey, which means that over half of the white half of the jersey will instead be black and creating quite the interesting look above and below the numbers.

Just to emphasize it, I repeat: Juventus’ new jersey has a random pink stripe going down the center of it on both the front and back of the jersey.

Yeah, I just don’t get it.

As somebody who wholeheartedly subscribes to the notion of “I want to see the players wearing the new jersey before I make a final verdict,” I’m just going to go ahead and leave this here:

That’s not helping at all. Maybe this will be some kind of joke and we will all be laughing because the above 350 words I just wrote regarding a rumored jersey turn out to nothing close to the truth at all. But, when it comes to jersey leaks this time of year and knowing that Juve has rolled out next season’s home jersey at the end of the current campaign in recent years, it’s hard to believe that something other than what we’re seeing will be Juventus’ newest home kit.
