Juventus have confirmed the news that goalkeeper Mattia Perin has joined the Bianconeri from Genoa late yesterday.

The 25-year-old had been linked with Serie A rivals Napoli and AS Roma but chose to move to Turin where he will battle for the starting spot with Wojciech Szczesny now that club legend Gianluigi Buffon has retired.

He is yet to have his official Juventus press conference, but said a few lines to Juventus.com about his transfer.

“I have a lot of enthusiasm, I come here on tip-toes with the utmost humility and a lot to learn, but hope I can give the team a helping hand and contribute to the cause when called upon.

“The club showed strong interest and when they contacted my agent, I couldn’t help but say yes. These are chances that pass by only once in life and I couldn’t say no to Juventus.”

Despite a career that has seen the player come back from major knee injuries in the last couple of years, he feels this was the best step available to him.

“I feel ready. I went through some difficult times that made me find a certain balance within myself, to grow and become a man. I think I arrive here at the right age.”
