All of the signs have pointed toward Mattia Perin signing with Juventus for the better part of the last couple of weeks — and that’s even before the reported deal became a closed case earlier in the week. One party was willing to sell, the other party got a price they liked and then Beppe Marotta was likely shaking some hands not too long after that.
Now, Perin is just in the final few steps needed to make his move up from Genoa to Juventus official.
That first part involves going in for his medical exams, which have gotten underway on Friday morning with Perin arriving at JMedical in Turin. The crowd outside might have been the crazy scene that it was for somebody like Federico Bernardeschi when he showed up for his medicals last summer, but Perin is now all of a couple runs on the treadmill away from becoming a Juventus player.

(As a recent buyer of a brand new 2019 Jeep Cherokee, I’m required to say that Perin has arrived to the site of his medicals in style. It is a pretty nice ride, I must say.)
As Perin arrives for his medicals, we know that the reported transfer fee that will be going Genoa’s direction is that of €15 million. How it all breaks down is something that still remains to be seen. We’ve seen €14 million plus another €1 million recently. We’ve also seen €12 million plus another €3 million as recently as two days ago when Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reported that the deal was done.
No matter how it shakes out, the €15 million figure seems like it’s the main thing to pay attention to here. And knowing that Marotta is working for the club that is paying over said amount of cash, it’s no surprise that there might be a little bit of creativity to it all.
So, less than 24 hours after Juventus announced that Douglas Costa has officially seen his loan deal with the club become an outright transfer, the seven-time defending Serie A champions are about to secure their second signing in a matter of two days.
Welcome to summer, everybody.
