Beppe Marotta on Emre Can: ‘We hope we can reach a conclusion in 10 days’

We may have an answer soon. Emphasis on “may.”

On the day of the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool, there was a report that said Emre Can was going to undergo his medicals with Juventus two days later.

That was on May 26.

It’s now June 12.

Can, who is officially leaving Liverpool come the end of the month, has yet to undergo the medicals or anything close to it really. In case you’re wondering when there’s going to be some kind of resolution to what has become quite the drawn out process for a player who has no transfer fee attached to him, Beppe Marotta might have an answer for you all.

Said Beppe:

“We’re optimistic on Emre Can. We can say that the contact with his representatives has started and are going well. We hope we can reach a conclusion in 10 days.”

Ten days.

We might have a resolution in 10 days.

It could be 10 days. It could be two weeks. It could be some time shorter — or longer — than all of that timeframe that Marotta mentioned above.

That will be just about when the end of Can’s contract with Liverpool arrives, give or take about a week or so. Maybe that was the plan the entire time.

But it is kinda fitting that this whole process will be stretched out another week or so since it’s taken so long to find a resolution already. All of the reports about Juventus reaching an agreement with Can over a four- or five-year contract be dammed, this thing is just going to go on and on and on and on.

The thing is, Marotta is optimistic and there’s no a whole hell of a lot right now telling us that something isn’t going to happen. When is the last time you heard about Can going to another team that isn’t Juventus? Those rumors have been absolutely silenced, with the only destination people expect Can to go to is Juventus.

Now we just have to wait for it to happen. Let the countdown to the end of this 10-day period begin right ... now.
