The overlying consensus entering the summer transfer window was that Juventus desperately needed to improve the quality of its midfield. And that’s on top of the assumption that Liverpool midfielder Emre Can was going to arrive in Turin to sign on a1 free transfer at some point this summer.

In recent days, we’ve seen Mateo Kovacic be linked with a potential move to Juventus — again.

And now, we’re seeing another name thrown into the mix of midfielders we will get to argue about what their possible use to Juventus could be.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele is now on Juve’s radar this summer. As our friends over in Spurs land at Cartilage Free Captain said, this is more of Juventus gathering information on any kind of interest Dembele has in moving to Italy and the seven-time defending Italian champions.

Either way, here’s what Di Marzio said:

Juventus have in fact already made contact with the entourage of the Belgian — who has also suitors in China — to explore the possibility of a move to the Bianconeri.

Juventus have already planned a meeting with the Spurs to discuss the possible transfer fee and other details such as the terms of payment, as they want to be prepared should the possibility of signing the midfielder became more concrete.

Tottenham will reportedly want around €30 million for Dembele, who will turn 31 years old in July and has one more season left on his contract. Other Italian teams are reportedly interested in Dembele, with Inter Milan and Napoli being the other two Serie A clubs linked to the Belgian midfielder.

Dembele was one of Spurs’ better players when the two teams met in the Champions League Round of 16 last season. The guy is one of the engines in a Tottenham squad that had Juventus very much on the ropes during the two-legged tie. And, as we saw first-hand, he’s certainly comfortable playing in a double-pivot role in a 4-2-3-1.

So, who knows. Beppe Marotta might just be putting some feelers out to see if Dembele is interested in signing with Juventus this summer. As we read above, Juve are reportedly planning to meet with his representatives in the near future, so this isn’t the end of things.
