Juventus officially unveils its 2018-19 home jersey

Fewer stripes, but the same colors are there.

As has been the case under adidas’ watch as Juventus’ kit supplier, the end of the season has been the time to release the home jersey for the next season. And as will be the case in Saturday’s season finale against Hellas Verona, we will get the newest Juventus home jersey even before the 2018-19 season begins.

The new Juventus home kit is here, and with it comes a different kind of look than what we’ve seen from adidas since it took over from Nike three years ago. Instead of lots of black and white stripes, there are two black stripes on either side of a white stripe down the center of the jersey. And on the back, a different kind of look to the front of the jersey in the same kind of fashion as this season’s large black block over much of the back.

In all, it’s a change of pace that some will like, some will hate, some will be completely indifferent to. Why? Because that’s what happens with every kit release, so we should be used to that by now.

My thoughts: As long as Paulo Dybala is wearing it come September 2018, then I’m going to love it. Well, I’ll love that Dybala is in a Juventus jersey come September, but I might not love the kit. (Final verdict TBD.)

Actually, it’s not as bad as some might originally think. Unlike the pictures above, there will be a Scudetto patch added as we’ve seen on the past seven years worth of new kits. There will be a Coppa Italia path as we’ve seen the last three years. That will added some flavor to it, for sure.

My stance on a new jersey will always remain the same: I will come to a much more definitive verdict once I see it on the players in action during a game. And we won’t have to wait long for that.
