There were days over the summer when it looked like Alex Sandro might not be a Juventus player come the start of the 2017-18 season. The key word in this is “might” simply because we knew Chelsea were offering lots and lots of money, a world record amount of money for a defender, to bring the Brazilian left back from Turin to London.
Even as offers were made, Juventus didn’t have any of it.
The summer started with offers for Alex Sandro being rejected, and ended with offers for Alex Sandro being rejected. That’s one of the better developments to come out of what was obviously a very interesting summer for Juventus.
Another good thing? Juventus are now reportedly preparing what a lot of folks thought they might in the aftermath of keep ahold of Alex Sandro. That would be a contract extension for Alex Sandro.
According to Turin-based sports daily Tuttosport on Tuesday morning, Juventus have the framework of a contract extension for Alex Sandro that would not only see the Brazilian left back get a very nice — and deserved — raise, but also keep him extend his current deal until 2022.
If Tuttosport is to be believed — and I know that can be a dangerous thing to think about sometimes — then
At 26 years of age, Sandro is just about to enter his prime. And based on how good he has been since joining Juventus two years ago, that’s a pretty scary thing to think about. Yes, Sandro can get better.
Sign Alex Sandro to a contract extension, Juventus. Give Alex Sandro all of the money he wants, Juventus. Keep Alex Sandro happy, Juventus. Keep Alex Sandro in Turin, Juventus. That is all.
