As the final days of Juventus’ 2016-17 season wound down and the Champions League final build-up kicked into overdrive, we heard of them potentially winning a treble. It was after the Coppa Italia win over Lazio, after Juve clinched a sixth straight Serie A title and put Juventus on the brink of winning one hell of a historic treble.
The one trophy missing in that conversation was the Italian Super Cup.
Juventus, in their first competitive game of the season that actually has some meaning behind it, has a chance to do what they’re weren’t able to accomplish in Doha nearly a year ago.
It’s Juventus vs. Lazio in the annual Supercoppa tonight at the Stadio Olimpico. It’s the same two teams we saw play for the Coppa Italia back at the end of last season. I personally like how the final score ended up. I liked seeing Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain celebrate their first trophy at Juventus together. I liked seeing Giorgio Chiellini, wearing the captain’s armband as he customarily does in the Coppa Italia, raising a trophy above his head. I liked pretty much all of it because it was Juventus winning a trophy.
Basically, I like when Juve win trophies. And I’m think those of you reading this post who like Juventus can’t help but agree.
We’ve seen Juve play four games this summer. It’s safe to say that it’s been a pretty mixed bag of performances thus far. Whether it’s been meh or it’s been good, this is the final, final, final, final tuneup before the games REALLY matter next weekend as Juve play their first game at newly-minted Allianz Stadium in Turin.
@OfficialAllegri: "I'm sure that, with this team, Juventus can enjoy a bright future." #SupercoppaTIM #JuveLazio

That future begins tonight in Rome. When it comes to Juventus winning trophies this season, let’s hope it begins 1-for-1 with a couple of goals to boot.
