The first step in Juventus’ anticipated backup goalkeeper change looks set to be taking place within relatively short order.

According to Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus’ backup goalkeeper of the last two seasons, Neto, is on his way out the door. That’s no surprise with Wojciech Szczesny expected to take his spot and then likely be the man that immediately follows in Gigi Buffon’s footsteps.

So where is he heading? (The headline might have given it away, but still...)

The Brazilian is off to La Liga side Valencia for a transfer fee of 7 million Euros plus 2 million in bonuses. Tomorrow Neto will leave for Spain to write another chapter in his career.

For as much as we’ve heard about Juventus signing Szczesny — yep, still having to copy/paste it; should probably learn how to spell that soon — the other, Neto-related domino probably needed to fall first before a deal happened with Arsenal.

And now that Neto looks to be on his way to a new club in Spain, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Szczesny transfer is announced shortly thereafter.

I mean, it’s not all that long before the full squad arrives back in Turin for preseason medical exams and the start of training. You know that Juve will want Szczesny to join up with his new team as soon as possible.

UPDATE: Neto is making his way to Valencia, according to Di Marzio.
