Juventus sealed the first part of their treble attempt today, beating Lazio 2-0 in the final of the Coppa Italia. Goals from Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci sealed the win and after the game manager Massimiliano Allegri spoke about the win.
“We have to compliment the lads for a great game, an extraordinary first half and Lazio deserve compliments for their entire campaign.
“Juve made up for Sunday’s inattentive performance. Now we have another important game against Crotone to finish off the title.
“The first half had a very high tempo and we made the most of our chances, so we did well defending in the second half.”
Allegri insisted that it took a team effort to get here.
“I think it’s disrespectful to talk about just one player after a night like this. If we won the Coppa Italia, it’s thanks to all the players in the squad who got us here.
“It’ll be tough against Crotone, we need one victory and on Sunday it’ll be decisive match of the season, so we need all our fans there. We have to play with the same determination we showed tonight.”
Bonucci also spoke with the media, and commended his teammates for refocusing after their weekend loss.
“It was a tough game, but we took the right approach and rediscovered our qualities. The defeat on Sunday did us good, it woke us up and now we have to focus on Crotone.
“In the second half against Roma it just wasn’t us. We were sluggish and not determined enough, so we gave ourselves a good talking to and are ready for 20 fiery days ahead.
“Lazio have a lot of quality in attack, so it was natural in a one-off game we’d have to allow them chances, but fortunately super Neto rescued us tonight.
“We knew before that this was the real Juventus. It was a shock when we didn’t approach Roma the right way, because Juve have got fans accustomed to living well, but it was a shake-up we needed.
“The Coppa Italia allowed those who didn’t play as much to make their mark and I thank the Coach and club for giving the team so much quality and tenacity this season.”
