This time last week we were talking about the eight-day stretch where Juventus could very well make or break their season both domestically and in Europe. It involved a trip to Naples, a trip to Greece and a little visit from Public Enemy No. 1 who just so happens to be in the midst of a pretty good season thus far.
Step 1 was a success.
Step 2 was, while it had its ups and downs, a success.
Now here we are at Step 3.
Juventus and Inter Milan have most certainly played big games against one another before. They will most certainly play big games against one another in the future ... maybe even later on this season. For now, though, it’s one big game with Serie A’s first-place team traveling to face the six-time defending league champions who are very much in the Scudetto race thanks to their win over Napoli a week ago.
First place going to the hostile environment of third place.
Oh what kind of fun there could be.
Juventus has closed the gap between themselves and both Napoli and Inter while also securing their spot in the Champions League group stage over the course of the first two steps of this three-legged mini-journey of ours.
The thing is, though, there’s still the possibility for more.
Juventus beats Inter and they’re suddenly atop the table. That does sound pretty nice, doesn’t it?
