Juventus vs. Milan: Starting lineup vote results

A results thread!

A solid response this week for the lineup vote, so thank you for that. The 4-2-3-1 formation has quickly taken over the preference of most readers, at least for this Coppa Italia game. I have a feeling if Max rolls with it again with good results, it could go a long way making a bid as one of our main formations. This is similar to the emergence of the 4-3-1-2 preference, which came after a single outstanding performance.

The starting keeper vote was very, very close. In the end, Gianluigi Buffon won the vote with 51.6 percent of votes over Neto’s 48 percent. Emil Audero got a single vote.

In defense, it was pretty standard results with Stephan Lichtsteiner, Alex Sandro, Daniele Rugani and Leonardo Bonucci leading the way.

In the midfield, with Claudio unavailable, the two pivot spots go to Miralem Pjanic (the overall vote leader), and Tomas Rincon.

In front of them, it gets a little messy. The top vote getters were Paulo Dybala, Marko Pjaca, Mario Mandzukic, and Gonzalo Higuain. For this formation, it seems like the logical solution would be to push Mandzukic out wide, considering he has played quite well in that role in a small sample this season. Gonzalo Higuain will spearhead the attack.

There were also many cries for Kean to be subbed in, something I wouldn’t be opposed to.

Whoever left this comment, I’m not impressed.

Time to start Padoin. He's only appeared in one of our matches all season

The debate on rotation was also very tight, with 51.1 percent of readers saying they would not like to rest most of the starters with the CI title getting closer and closer. I would agree with that, as long as the games are spread out from our Champions League games, in which case I’d say rest them.

My lineup is pretty similar to the one selected. I would start Neto, the Coppa Italia is his. I would also take out Mandzukic and replace him with Cuadrado to provide some proper width. All in all though, a pretty good lineup was picked.

BWRAO’s Starting Lineup (4-2-3-1): Gianluigi Buffon; Alex Sandro, Daniele Rugani, Leonardo Bonucci, Stephan Lichtsteiner; Miralem Pjanic, Tomas Rincon; Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Marko Pjaca; Gonzalo Higuain.

Anthony’s Starting Lineup (4-2-3-1): Neto; Alex Sandro, Daniele Rugani, Leonardo Bonucci, Stephan Lichtsteiner; Miralem Pjanic, Tomas Rincon; Marko Pjaca, Paulo Dybala, Juan Cuadrado; Gonzalo Higuain.
