We’ve heard the media reports plenty. Riccardo Orsolini was going to have his deal to Juventus done by the weekend. That was pretty much the truth, with Orsolini’s agent wrapping up the final details within the last 48 hours or so. Because of that, we heard reports that Orsolini was going to undergo his medical with Juventus on Wednesday. It turns out, as Orsolini’s agent confirmed, Thursday is medical examination day.

Okay, so one day late, but the fact is that Orsolini is in Turin right now is a pretty sign.

The Orsolini-to-Juventus transfer is one step closer to being completed. The “OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL” post on this here website is being prepared and looked over by all of our editing goblins. The view count on Orsolini highlight videos on YouTube are about to go up even more than they already are. Orsolini is stepping onto treadmills at J Medical and about as close as it can get without actually signing a contract to being Juventus’ third signing of the January transfer window, folks.

The statement from Juventus, courtesy of their official website:

Riccardo Orsolini has arrived in Turin this morning ahead of the 19-year-old winger's proposed transfer from Ascoli.

The youngster is currently undergoing a medical examination at the club's J|Medical facility.

More to follow.

Maybe it’s just me, but I would like to think that the “More to follow” line at the end of the brief post on Juve’s website will be the fact that Orsolini has signed his brand new contract with the reigning champions and has subsequently been loaned back to Ascoli until the end of the season.

That is not necessarily a surprise to many of us who have seen Juve sign youngsters in recent winter transfer windows. Juventus’ second January signing, 22-year-old defender Mattia Caldara, was a €15 million acquisition — and possibly more based on what happens in the future — earlier this month and was sent right back to Atalanta for the next season and a half to further his already impressive development.

So, once we hear that Orsolini is officially a Juventus player and then once again an Ascoli player, it’s a move that’s also about the future even though it’s happening in the present time.
