The Serie A season countdown clock has officially hit zero. No more days to wait and cross days off the calendar — at least for four of the 20 teams in Italy’s top flight, that is.

Two of those teams just so happen to be two of the best teams the country has to offer, with Fiorentina making the trip north to Turin to face Juventus in the reigning champions’ latest Juventus Stadium opener.

It’s been nearly a decade since Juventus and La Viola met on opening day. Those days, the likes of Pavel Nedved and Alessandro Del Piero were still running the show and leading Juventus to wins. Nedved had Juve’s only goal eight years ago in the 1-1 draw at the Franchi, the last time the two clubs met on Serie A’s opening weekend.

There are still some names from that game still wearing Juventus’ fabled black and white stripes. But it’s certainly a vastly different team — and one that will be looking to win a record sixth consecutive Scudetto. That would be pretty good, right?

That’s also pretty good, right? Yeah, that’s pretty good.
