For the Juventus representation at Euro 2016, things have gone pretty well so far. Maybe the team performances haven't been stellar or exemplary, but the results have come through and looked much like the other ones. Every Juventus player to step onto a field in France over the past week has seen their team claim three points.
Now, with the second round of group stage games starting up, we get to see if that trends continue.
Three Juventus players will be playing their second game of the tournament at some point today — Stephan Lichtsteiner and Switzerland facing Romania, while the French duo of Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra face Albania. There's also Russia vs. Slovakia to start off the day, but since there's no Juventus representation, we can sit back and watch without any kind of rooting interest.
(Or maybe you want to see Marek Hamsik's team stumble like his Napoli squad did against Juventus in the second half of the season. So, if that's the case, I guess I can't really object to that.)
After a two-game slate, we're back to the full set of three. And, like just about every other day at the European Championships thus far, there are Juventus players who will likely play a key role — good or bad. Let's hope Evra doesn't give up any penalties this time around. But let's also hope Lichtsteiner continues to be Lichtsteiner and yell at the opposition as many times as humanly possible.
It's been a fun tournament so far. And now that we're getting into the meat of the group stage games, hopefully that trend continues. Oh, and the same goes for the trend where Juventus players' respective countries continue to win, too. That one is pretty cool if you ask me.
