Juventus continued their historic winning streak, finally breaking Frosinone down late in the game to win 2-0 and extend their run of wins to fourteen. The Bianconeri missed plenty of chances as they found the home side's keeper Nicola Leali in fine form as he repelled Juve time and again. However, with just under twenty minutes to go, Juan Cuadrado finally broke the Canarini's resistance. Paulo Dybala added the icing on the cake in time added on to settle the game.
Meanwhile, Napoli won 1-0 against the ten men of Carpi through a Gonzalo Higuain penalty to maintain their two-point lead over Juve. The top two teams play each other at the Juventus Stadium next week. Here's what manager Massimiliano Allegri had to say about that game -
"It'll be a fine game, it certainly won't decide the Scudetto, but we'll be ready for it. We have important players that Napoli need to worry about too.
"I can only compliment Maurizio Sarri, because he's having a great campaign. It had been many years since Napoli were top of the table like this."
Allegri also commented on the win against Frosinone -
"The lads did well today, but could've done better. When you play certain games you know sooner or later a goal will arrive, so rushing just gives the opposition an advantage."We had two great chances at the start, then struggled because Frosinone defended well. We should've been sharper and calmer in creating scoring opportunities.
"When you have many young players in the side, there are going to be mistakes. Frosinone only lost badly on home turf to Napoli, so it was not a match to be taken for granted."
Veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini left the game with a calf injury -
"Unfortunately he has a recurring problem with his calf. We have Andrea Barzagli, Daniele Rugani or even Stephan Lichtsteiner who can play at centre-back.We lost Caceres and today Chiellini but we have to be more careful. It won't be easy for him to recover for the Napoli game but I hope to have him.""
Allegri spoke about the width that Alex Sandro gives the team, after his cross allowed Cuadrado to score the opener -
"He has different characteristics to Patrice Evra, who gives us balance in the defensive phase. Alex Sandro supports our game in the final third. He also played right back at Porto. He's a quality player with potential."
