OFFICIAL: Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci out 6-8 weeks with hamstring strain

The defender suffered the injury in Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Genoa.

Juventus provided an update to the injury status of Leonardo Bonucci on Monday, with the Italian defender set for a six to eight week stint on the sidelines as he recovers from a left hamstring strain he suffered in Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Genoa.

The Bianoconeri also loss right full-back Dani Alves to a fractured right fibula in the aforementioned match. He’s expected to miss at least four months.

Bonucci has been a staple on the back line for Juventus for the better part of six seasons when healthy. He’s scored three goals in 22 appearances in all competitions this season.

From Juventus’ official website:

“Bonucci, the early findings, revealed a hamstring of his left thigh leaving predict the current recovery time was around 45/60 days. The timing can expect better sized based on the new assessments to be made shortly.

For Dani Alves from the early findings confirmed the diagnosis of yesterday. Recovery will be defined on the basis of clinical and radiographic evolutions that will be monitored in the days to follow.”

Juventus’ injury list now includes defenders Alves, Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli, as well as forwards Paulo Dybala and Marko Pjaca.

The club returns to play Saturday evening against Atalanta at Juventus Stadium.
