Italian Super Cup Game Time Thread: Juventus vs. Lazio

At last, a game that actually means something. It's certainly doesn't mean as much as the last time Juventus played in a game that meant something, but this is a step between the same old preseason friendly and full-blown Serie A and/or Champions League happenings.

We're just a few short moments before the 2015 Supercoppa kicks off in Shanghai. After a season without the Supercoppa in their possession, Juventus will try to get it back against a different team with sky blue-ish uniforms. A win in Saturday's Supercoppa will be the seventh trophy Juventus has captured in the one-off competition, while it would be the second straight time Juventus has beaten Lazio and gotten a trophy for it.

The Italian press is hyping it just as you would expect them to.

Tuttosport's headline asks, "JUVE, ARE YOU STILL SUPER?" The Gazzetta dello Sport raises points about all the intrigue going on in Shanghai surrounding the Juventus-Lazio Supercoppa meeting. Yes, there is intrigue, and the chance to see if Juve are still super. HOWEVER, it's also the first chance to see this new-look Juventus in a competitive match where Max Allegri won't be changing out half the team come the 55th minute.

We will get to see Paul Pogba rock his brand new number. We will get to see Mario Mandzukic try to lead the line in an actual game that doesn't involve the word "friendly." We will get to see if Allegri will once again rock the sweater and unbuttoned dress shirt like he has so far this summer.

And, above all else, we get to see Juventus again. Not in some friendly that is in a kinda-sorta filled stadium. Now we get to see Juventus in a game that matters against a Lazio team that is a pretty good one, too.

We have this day, this somewhat long-awaited game day. And game day unlike the previous three that were more about getting work in and not getting hurt more than anything.
