Even though the final game of Juventus' Champions League group stage didn't go well, we knew for a fact that they were in the knockout round regardless of the result. If there was going to be a positive to come out of a the loss against Sevilla, that was it.
Now, less than a week after that 1-0 loss in Spain, Juventus is about to find out who its next opponent in Europe will be.
Will Juve be able to avoid one of the three big boys — Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich — for at least one round and get a favorable draw? Or, will Juventus see one of those Spanish giants they saw in the semifinal and final, respectively, last season?
Can't remember all of the seven teams Juuventus, which frustratingly finished second in Group D behind Manchester City, can be drawn against in the Round of 16? Well, we've got you covered on that.
Juventus Can play: Real Madrid, Wolfsburg, Atlético, Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Zenit #UCLdraw— Champions League (@ChampionsLeague) December 14, 2015
We've already discussed in more detail all of Juve's potential opponents may be and which matchups will be more favorable than the others. Some may want to face a big team right off the bat, others may want to hold off until the stakes are even higher.
Either way, with Juventus' form improving by the week, going into the new year and then when the Round of 16 matches start in February might very well be the most important thing for this team right now no matter who they're drawn against. They've won six straight games in Serie A after Sunday's 3-1 win over Fiorentina. That's on top of beating group winner Man City twice. So, yeah, this team is playing well, I'd say.
