Things have been interesting for young Frederik Sorensen these last few weeks. Surprisingly, none of that has to do with the Danish defender actually appearing in any games, either.
There was that move to Leeds United that was so close to happening earlier this month. It didn't.
There were the following rumors of where he would end up in the aftermath of Sorensen's Leeds United move reportedly falling apart because of contract term issues. It was almost like a little game for some folks in the Italian press. "Hey, let's play another round of Where Will Freddie Sorensen End Up!"
Ah, but for Sorensen's sake, there could be an end to all of this. Yes, it looks like young Frederik has apparently found a club to play for this season. And, according to the grand transfer oracle named Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus fans won't have to look far to keep track of the 22-year-old defender.
Hellas Verona have closed the deal for Sorensen. The meeting with Juventus just ended: the defender joins on loan with €4M option to buy. Sorensen will stay in Italy, he'll play in Verona.
Not all that surprising that there's an option to buy kicker next summer because it seems like every deal Sorensen has been a part of this summer basically includes one. It's obviously unfortunate that Sorensen is not in Juventus' plans for this season — and probably thereafter as well.
But clearly our evaluation of Sorensen isn't the same as Beppe Marotta's crew. It'd be nice to have Sorensen as a defender in waiting at Juventus this season, but that ain't happening. Ah, well. Maybe Hellas Verona won't take up that option to buy and Sorensen will be back in Turin next summer. And no, not sitting around waiting for another club.
