Game Time Thread: Juventus vs. A-League All-Stars

Joosep Martinson

Today is an interesting day to say the least. Juventus are on the second game of their preseason tour, one that has now taken them to Australia to play the A-League All-Stars. But at the same time, one of the players on the A-League All-Star team just so happens to be a certain striker by the name of Alessandro Del Piero.

See? Not exactly what you would call a "normal" situation.

Today brings us ADP playing against Juventus. Let me say that again: Alessandro Del Piero, club legend and all around good guy, will be facing the team he played for from 1993 to 2012 in less than an hour. In the category of "Things I thought I'd never type in a BWRAO post," that's probably towards the top of the list.

Yet here we are. Del Piero, in some kind of capacity, will be playing for the A-League All-Stars today. We don't know how many minutes he will play. We don't know if this will be one of the last times we'll be seeing him on the field. We don't really know much other than it's Alessandro Del Piero playing against the team he used to captain.

Maybe he will just hit the Stone Cold Steve Austin theme music, run onto the field, and then get thrown a Juventus kit by Gigi Buffon and rock it for however long he's on the field in what ends up being a testimonial match for the soon-to-be 40-year-old.

A guy can dream, right? Sure he can.

You gotta love 'em.

Starting lineups for both Juventus and the A-League All-Stars will be posted when they become available. Here's a non-biased idea: Del Piero plays. There, that's not very difficult to go along with, now is it? Nah, don't think so.

UPDATE: LINEUPS! DEL PIERO!
