Report: Juventus to close the deal for Hellas Verona's Romulo on Thursday

Enrico Locci

When Beppe Marotta was pictured chatting up Hellas Verona president Maurizio Setti after the Serie A fixture list was released Monday night, you figured one thing and thing only: The deal for Romulo was close to being a wrap, with just every 'T' crossed and every 'I' dotted so it could become official.

It's been over 48 hours since that meeting, though, and still no Romulo. So much for those rumors of a medical going down Tuesday or Wednesday. Now we're left to play the waiting game with just over a month to go before the summer transfer window comes to a close.

Could there be a resolution in sight, though? Some folks seem to think so.

The deal for Romulo should be completed in the next 24 hours. Juventus and Verona will meet again tomorrow to finalize the negotiation, the remaining hurdles are the payment method, especially on the loan part of the deal, as well as some matters between the player's agent and Verona. These are the final steps to complete the move, Juventus is determind to end this quickly so Romulo can participate in the Asian tour. Juventus is getting closer to acquiring Romulo.

True, Juventus seemed pretty close to wrapping up the Romulo transfer when the meeting between Marotta and the Verona representatives were sitting across the table from each other two days ago. But much like case before Roberto Pereyra's loan-with-option-to-buy deal was finalized, it looks as though the move is just a few details here and there from becoming official and posted on the Juventus website.

But, if reports are to be believed, the move for Romulo is just a matter of time before becoming a done deal.

So maybe we were just forced to wait a couple of days. It could be worse, I guess.
