After his transfer to Inter Milan fell apart, we didn't know what was next for Mirko Vucinic. Would he stay? Would he go? Where did he stand in the eyes of Antonio Conte and the rest of Juventus' management?
The January transfer window came and went, and Vucinic was still in Turin. He made an appearance off the bench in the Derby d'Italia against Inter. Maybe it was a sign of Conte showing his faith in one of his favorites from the previous two Scudetto-winning squads, or maybe it was just an absolute troll job by the Juve manager.
Either way, it looked like the injury and drama-filled season Vucinic found himself in might be finally turning a corner.
And, well, now there's this, courtesy of Juventus' official website. Dude just can't catch a break.
Mirko Vucinic underwent medical tests (Thursday) after spraining his right knee in training. The striker had an MRI scan, performed by professor Carlo Faletti, and a medical examination at Turin's Clinica Fornaca, carried out by professor Flavio Quaglia.
The exams ruled out any ligament damage but revealed bruising on his tibia and medial meniscus.
Although no surgery is required, the Montenegrin forward is expected to be out of action for several weeks.
There was some talk about Vucinic getting a talk about Vucinic getting some minutes this weekend against Chievo as Juventus look to shake off that stupid 2-2 draw against Hellas Verona. Obviously that isn't going to be happening now.
This is just the latest hit in what has been a forgettable 2013-14 campaign for everybody's favorite Montenegrin. He began the season starting alongside Carlos Tevez, only to get injured and then lose his spot to the resurgent Fernando Llorente. Since then, the playing time has been almost nonexistent.
Maybe the Mirkostache should be brought back. At least he seemed to be healthy when he rocked the mustache. This version of Vucinic just seems to be that sports a beard and can't catch a break whatsoever.
