OFFICIAL: Juventus' Luca Marrone ruled out 20 days with thigh injury

Nagging injuries have been a common theme throughout the Juventus squad during the first two-plus months of the 2014-15 season. One player comes back, another play goes down. It's a stupid cycle that only continues to happen.

One of those injured players is Luca Marrone, the Juve primavera product who returned to Turin this summer after a season with Sassuolo. And guess what? Just days after returning to full training with the squad, Marrone is set to miss another good amount of time thanks to an injury. The official news, courtesy of Juventus' website:

Luca Marrone will be absent from the travelling party after suffering an injury during training yesterday. A scan conducted this morning revealed he has a first-grade tear of the rectus femoris muscle in his left thigh. The 24-year-old is expected to return to action within 20 days.

The guy just can't catch a break, huh?

Just when it looked like Juventus might have some depth in defense for the first time in what seems like forever with Marrone back and Martin Caceres close to returning, Juve are again down to just the three centerbacks that will likely start against Empoli. Instead, we will have to wait for Caceres to return -- which could be next week when Olympiacos comes to town to open up the second half of the Champions League group stage.

Sure hope Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Angelo Ogbonna like playing games every couple of days because that's what it continues to look like will happen until Caceres blesses us with his presence once again.

So get well soon, Luca. And don't get hurt a week after you return from this injury, okay?
