It's award season here in America. And apparently it's the same way in Italy. And what do you know? Juventus dominated the award ceremony on Monday night in Milan.
In a season where Juventus is again at the top of the table, the core of their second straight Scudetto-winning season was recognized as the best in the country. If you don't believe me or haven't seen the list of award winners from Juventus yet, check it out for yourselves!
Best coach? Antonio Conte.
Best player? Andrea Pirlo.
Best club? Juventus.
I must say, that's not a bad haul at all, gentlemen. Maybe this time next year, we can all gather this time next and give out some more awards to Juventus players, coaches and management. I'd say that's a fine idea.
Below is the team of the season, which was selected by a group of players, managers, referees and journalists.
The best XI (4-3-3): Handanovic; Maggio (lol), Barzagli, Chiellini, De Sciglio; Vidal, Pirlo, Valero; Cavani, Balotelli, Di Natale
Looks good to me. I especially like the parts that say "Barzagli,' "Chiellini," "Vidal," and "Pirlo." That might just be me, though.
This is the second straight year that Andrea Barzagli won the best right-sided central defender award. In the same kind of fashion for the center midfield position and Serie A player of the year honors.
Conte had this to say about Juve's success the last two-plus seasons.
"We managed to win straightaway in our first year, then followed this up during the next season. Now we're also trying to win this time around. We know it will be difficult — Roma and Napoli are both excellent sides — but we've got the desire, determination and will to keep surprising."

I would think the current six-point lead also helps, but who am I to judge such a good guy like our dear Antonio. Keep doing what you're doing, fella. Something tells me a third straight league title would possibly see him up on stage to get some more hardware next year. Just a hunch.
