Sebastian Giovinco's race towards being available for Juventus' possible European swan song this season has come up just a little bit short.
(Insert Giovinco/height joke here if you'd like.)
Indeed, the diminutive striker was unable to recover from the knock to his right knee he suffered in Saturday's 2-1 win over Pescara at Juventus Stadium. Giovinco wasn't expected by many to start against Bayern Munich tomorrow night, but he could have been one of the first players Antonio Conte turned to if things weren't going to plan or if Juve needed some kind of kick-start offensively.
There goes that option.
Other than Giovinco missing out, the other big news of the day is that defender Martin Caceres has been called up for the first time in nearly a month since being involved in an early-morning car accident in Turin four weeks ago. No matter what his involvement is against Bayern, it's good to see that Caceres — who turned 26 years old on Sunday — is back to full health. And maybe he'll bring his cool hat with him.
The 19-man squad list for Wednesday's game against the German champions, courtesy of Juve's official website, is as follows:
