Giorgio Chiellini's Injury Woes Continue, Out of Italy's Next Two Fixtures

It's seemed when it's not one injury for Giorgio Chiellini, it's another. And what do ya know — he's heading back to Turin and the Juventus training grounds at Vinovo again after being ruled out of Italy's friendly against Brazil on Thursday and the World Cup Qualifying match against Malta next week.

So it goes for Chiellini. It seems like when he returns from one injury, something else pops up. It's just been that kind of season for him, one where he's only taken part in four matches since the calendar flipped over to 2013.

From Football Italia:

Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini will take no part in Italy's upcoming games against Brazil and Malta.

The stopper has been struggling with ankle issues this week which had placed him into doubt for the ties.

After monitoring his situation over the last two days, the decision has been taken by Azzurri doctors to send Chiellini back to his club.

So, what now for Chiellini? Uh, get well soon — and preferably before the oh-so-important European fixtures. Juventus has already had to deal with him missing out on important Champions League fixtures, and now is not the time to make that into a trend and have him out for more than a couple of weeks. The next two weeks will be crucial for him

But we will likely not know for sure whether or not Chiellini is recovering at the right kind of pace he desperately needs to so he'll be able to play in the derby against and/or the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals against Bayern Munich in Germany the first Tuesday in April.

Let's just hope that whenever he does recover, it's the last time we'll be talking about Chiellini being injured for awhile. It's getting somewhat tiresome, isn't it? How about some good news when it comes to Chiellini — like scoring goals or one of those crunching tackles that sees him come flying out of nowhere.
