Beppe Marotta says Arturo Vidal's renewal is 'down to the final details'

Also things regarding about Paul Pogba, Claudio Marchisio and Giorgio Chiellini. That Marotta fella, what a generous guy!

I'm not sure that I've ever typed what you will see in the next paragraph, but here goes nothing...

Tuttosport reported that Arturo Vidal is getting close to agreeing to a contract extension — and it's turning out to be the truth. No, really. Tuttosport published something other than one of their quality player interviews that is close to the truth. How do I know this? Because Juventus director general Beppe Marotta said so during a press conference today that introduced Samsung as the club's newest business partner.

What exactly did Marotta say? I'm glad you asked. The nuts and bolts of it, courtesy of Gianluca Di Marzio:

"At the moment we are looking at the contracts of many players who demonstrated that they meet our expectations. ... With Vidal we are down to the final details and there are no problems. It's the player himself, who despite offers from abroad, wanted to stay with us and we are extremely satisfied with what he has done. The same argument can be made for Pogba."

Okay, we kinda figured that was the case regarding both Vidal, and to a lesser extent Pogba. Juventus obviously want to lock up the core of the team and they have presumed to be the first two names on the list of those who were in line for new contracts and pay raises. But here's another quote from Big Beppe worth noting.

"But there are also players like Chiellini and Marchisio who don't have expiring contracts but are mid way through. We started to speak to their respective agents."

Mr. Burns, do you have any thoughts on this?

That's what I thought. And I agree with you, Mr. Burns.

Chiellini, who turned 29 back in August, sees his current deal expire after the 2015 season. Much like Pogba and Vidal, Marchisio's deal comes to an end after the 2016 season. Both of them clearly want to stay in Turin — as Chiellini confirmed at today's Samsung press conference — at Juventus and Juventus want them to stay right where they are.

That's a pretty good piece of inside information right there, I know. Anything else comes along my way, I'll be sure to pass it along.

In conclusion: Give them all of the contract extensions. Sounds like a solid plan to me.
