A striker linked to Juventus, you say? Huh, what a concept! Yep, the latest name to be thrown out there is 21-year-old Parma striker Ishak Belfodil, a player that Juve recently saw put in one heck of a performance in Turin earlier this month.
Transfer deadline day gossip or something that could actually be true? Yeah, who knows. But it sounds good, so let's just think happy thoughts for the time being, okay? I like that idea.
Juventus have reportedly made a bid for Parma's Ishak Belfodil as their January search for a new striker continues.
According to stories on Thursday, the Old lady contacted the Gialloblu last night to enquire about the availability of the 21-year old.
Well, that sounds good to me. I love it when Beppe Marotta reportedly does something that's totally unexpected around these parts. Tell me more!
Parma's €20 million asking price was deemed as excessive by the Turin giants, who offered Fabio Quagliarella in exchange.
The Stadio Tardini outfit subsequently asked for Quagliarella and €13 million.
The Turin giants are hoping for a straight swap deal which would see each player move on loan until the end of the season.
Oh, almost like it is too good to be true. Maybe we could form a prayer circle?
Regardless, if Juventus are in fact trying to get Belfodil, they're on the right track. His seven goals in 20 games tally shows that he has the ability to find the back of the net.
Then again, the player he would be replacing — Quagliarella — has seven goals in five fewer games. When you consider that three of those goals came against Pescara, then his tally this season — in Serie A, at least — isn't all too impressive. I still like Quags, but playing time has been very inconsistent for him as of late. Whether there's something to do with his drop in form or he just hasn't been at the top of Antonio Conte's striker power rankings is anybody's guess.
Either way, this isn't the first time Quagliarella, who ironically is celebrating his 30th birthday today, has been linked with another Italian team. And it seems like for the first time in days, it's with a team other than Fiorentina. So take that, Viola!
