VotD: Veterans Come Out To Play For A Good Cause

In a charity match between Juventus and Torino legends held at the Olimpico earlier this week, former Bianconeri stars like Claudio Gentile, Zinedine Zidane, Pavel Nedved, Edgar Davids, and someones favourite Alessio Tacchinardi, laced up to raise money for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Although the match ended in a 2-2 draw, everyone was a winner as the game raised more than €220,000 for the cause. Details, post-match comments, and footage after the jump. Thanks to Faisal for the links.

Brazil legend Junior gave Torino the lead in the first half and it was doubled after the break when Gianluigi Lentini’s shot took a deflection off Juventus' Mark Iuliano and went into the Bianconeri's net. However, La Vecchia Signora pulled one back when who else but Pavel Nedved flicked the ball home from Zidane’s chipped pass on fifty-four minutes as Marcello Lippi looked on with joy. Fourteen minutes later Sergio Porrini headed home to equalise from Corrado Grabbi's cross. Definitely a night to remember.

"It hurts to see Juventus in this position because this club must always win. Things have changed. It takes time. But the Agnelli name is a guarantee and I really hope that Andrea does well. Did you see the goal that Del Piero scored at the weekend? It surprises me that he can still play at this level."

"It's difficult to give advice about the future. Eden Hazard is a great player at Lille, but I don't know if he can be the new Zidane. Jeremy Menez is doing well at Roma and could be a player worthy of Juve." When Asked if he might return to Juventus as a director, Zidane replied: "Never say never. Also because when you are Juve, you are Juve forever."

IERI... OGGI.. DOMANI.. SEMPRE JUVE!!!
