Happy Birthday Del Piero; Moves Into Second Place All-Time Appearances

delpieroage2.jpgWhat more could you ask for as a career? Not much more if your Alessandro Del Piero that's for sure. 'Il Pinturicchio' turns 33 today two days before our game against Parma Sunday. Once again Alessandro will sport his very familiar (and slimming), white and black strips he's graced for more then fifteen seasons with Juventus. With a wealth of personal accolades aside, Del Piero has lifted 15 14 13 trophies domestically and internationally while with Juventus, cementing his name into the books of the most successful team in the history of Italian Football.

Alongside his all-time leading goalscoring record (220), Del Piero has just recently moved past his tie with second place Giuseppe Furino (528),for Juventus' all-time appearances as a player in competitive matches with 529. As impressive as that is, with 29 Serie A and Coppa Italia matches left this season, Alex could very well eclipse the great Gaetano Scirea (552) for first place. I guess at 33 thats a big 'if' this season, however when he inevitably does, Alessandro will have added yet another club record towards his confirmation as possibly the greatest bianconeri to ever play the game.
