Juventus reportedly closing in on Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo

Mike Hewitt

When the Mirko Vucinic-Fredy Guarin drama ended, it seemed the same might be able to be said for Juve's incoming transfer business in January as a whole. But as the days have gone by, the rumors have only continued to be thrown out there for everybody to see and react to.

We very well may have our answer in the near future. Excitement is spreading!

In a very Beppe Marotta-like move, Juventus are securing their option to fill a hole before the departing player actually heads out the door. Vucinic's time in Turin appears to be coming to a abrupt end after everything that has happened over the past week and change. And with a need for another striker apparently

In will step...Dani Osvaldo? That's what people are saying. I'm just here to spread the word. Don't shoot the messenger!

And in English, please?

I mean, €2 million for a loan that ends at the end of the season...that's not the worst thing in the world.

I could go on and on with Italian media members jumping on the word that Osvaldo-to-Juve is gaining serious steam, but I don't want this post to be filled with nothing but Twitter posts of the same kind of thing. Who wants to be redundant around here?

I'll just add this: Gianluca Di Marzio says that negotiations between Southampton and Juventus are moving forward in a positive direction. There's no timetable as to when the deal may be completed, but who can really predict these kinds of things anyway. Remember when we all thought Vucinic-Guarin was a done deal? Yeah, exactly.

You might say something along the lines of "But Osvaldo might have some problems attached to him when it comes to his behavior." And that's fair. I don't blame some of you for being hesitant about a player who has some baggage attached to him.

But I'll respond to you with this: Antonio Conte. You'd like to think that if there's one manager who can set a player straight, it's Conte. And if that's the case, maybe Osvaldo can truly reach the potential a lot of people think he has.
